Taikoo Li’s Summer Vibes is the event that keeps giving with another round of activities and offers to make it worth the while getting out in the heat!

Home Thai
Thai cuisine might just the South East Asia’s biggest import because honestly, do you know anyone who doesn’t love Thai food? Well when you’re at Taikoo Li, you’ll be well served with Home Thai. Sydneysiders might be familiar with its authentic Thai cuisine at its always-crowded first restaurant and they’ve taken this concept from down-under with outposts in Hangzhou, Shanghai and now finally Beijing.
Membership has its privileges and if you’re a Taikoo Li member, be sure to drop by Fri 11 at 7pm, when Home Thai is offering a free tasting of its new summer menu. Come early as there are limited spots!

Bad Farmers & Our Bakery
Stop in at this shiny new eco-café, a hip collab between two famous independent brands from South Korea. Pick up a pastry, and sip on one of the café’s creative coffees – Earl Grey latté, anyone?
We're giving away two passes to take part in Bad Farmers & Our Bakery’s excellent competition happening on Fri 11 at 6-7pm. Participants will get a free coffee and its signature ‘Dirty Chocolate Bun’ (pictured above). Everyone will be tasked to take a picture of the decadent treat and the best photo snares the top winner a 500RMB store value card!

Cantina Agave
Any Mexican restaurant launching in Beijing is going to create some serious buzz. So when Cantina Agave came to town, riding the coattails of its two immensely popular Shanghai venues, the foodie fiesta began. With stencils of Mexican wrestlers and playful menus that greet you with a bold ‘Hola!’, it’s tacky enough to be fun while respectable enough not to offend any stuffy Sanlitun types.
Cantina Agave is hosting the Summer Vibes after-party up on its rooftop every Friday and Saturday through August 20. They'll be putting on drinks specials on the Fridays including special 'Taikoo Li tequila', and both nights will feature a great line-up of DJs strutting their stuff. Party starts at 9.30pm.

Summer Vibes
Party like summer will never end as the Pop up Disko continues tomorrow and Saturday until Aug 20. The beats from various DJs will have you stomping around Taikoo Li and might be the perfect way to lose those extra pounds without a gym membership.
Pop Up Disko is from Fri 28-Aug 20. Fridays 5.30-10pm; Saturdays 3.30-10pm.
Man about town
We speak to Talib Hudda, Chef de cuisine at Sureño, The Opposite House who tells us how he’s coping with summer. Two words: mung bean.
Canada, Denmark, China – you've spent summer in a lot of places, but what makes summer in Beijing unique?
It’s disgustingly hot and I sure love to sweat! In that sense, I think Beijing summers are different because you’re always thinking about where your next stop inside’s going to be – where your next fix of air-con is coming from!
What are we having off the Sureño summer menu then?
I’d kick it off all with the Hokkaido scallop ceviche – sliced super thin, raw and citrusy, it’s a light and refreshing start when you’ve just come in. Onto the main, let’s keep it fishy, with the monkfish, lightly grilled in smoked paprika, served with white asparagus, couscous, a shellfish bisque and our own house-cured ‘Nduja sausage.
And to finish?
It’s gotta be the espresso and berry sponge, a concoction with crispy cocoa honeycomb, a creamy espresso mascarpone and this dangerously tasty peanut butter powder, all dished up with blueberry sorbet.
You've got 10 kuai – what's your convenience store ice cream of choice and why?
Oooh! Those green mung bean popsicles are my favourite. I don’t know why, but it just works! Magnums? Nah, you can get them anywhere! Gotta be mung bean, all the way.
